All things new for 2010

December 23, 2009 by imightdisco

New things are going to be appearing from our orifices in the new year. Most importantly is another recording session in early January in which we will be recording two brand spanking new songs and one existing song. With our current back catalogue of unreleased work we will hope to release a split EP of songs an remixes in early to late february.

Also excited about playing our first show in about 3 months, curated by Mat Horne (of Gavin and Stacey acclaim). This will be at New Hero club in Brighton. This show should be slightly different as both Marc and Ben have refined their guitar tones with new pedals and effects.

Other than that we hope to play many shows in 2010.. Merry christmas all.

What we’ve got in store..

February 10, 2009 by imightdisco

Right! Quick post just to let you all know what we’ve got coming up.

First of all our two new tracks (We’ll take) Alice (to wonderland) & 98th time are being mixed and mastered as we speak, by Adrian Breakspear who has worked alongside the likes of Crystal Castles and The Enemy. The rough mixes we’ve heard so far have been very promising.

Once they have been completed and we get our grubby mits on the bare tracks we are going to hand them over to Teleute (http://www.myspace.com/thekidsareallwrong) who has previously remixed Drainpipes and Daggers. He will work his magic on it. As well as that, one of our close personal friend will be making us a remix as well.

We are also now booking for an ambitious 16 date UK tour, which we should hopefully fill. While on tour we will also be releasing an EP of some description which will be available to download on iTunes and the like.

Thank you for your continued support!

About us

January 18, 2009 by imightdisco

imightdisco (one word!) are a five piece Electro-Punk outfit from Brighton, with many influences ranging from The Ramones to Justice. IMD have however managed to maintain a very unique and British feel to their music.

Although IMD have only been together a short time they have been down this road before, as most of the members have experience in other projects. With this line up they have taken that experience on the road, continually promoting their soon to be released new single;  ’(We’ll take) Alice (to wonderland)’

As a live act IMD have been doing shows with the likes of Kate Nash, Bombay Bicycle Club and Elle Milano. Not only have IMD shown us how true punk should be done, they’ve injected their own electro twist into their recorded work. They have also time and time again proved that they have the live show to back up the recordings, proving that they are ones to watch in 2009 and beyond!

Brazilian? I prefer a landing strip..

January 18, 2009 by imightdisco

The other week we received an email from an obviously enraptured Brazilian fan who asked us if it would be alright to set up a Brazilian fan site. Our answer to this was a resounding flat out.. Yes. However in the question of sculpting pubic hair in the ‘Brazilian’ style, the answer to this is a resounding flat out.. Maybe (we would probably prefer a landing strip.)

10th Jan 2009 – Camden Barfly with Bad Robots

January 18, 2009 by imightdisco

This was the first time we’d gigged at the Camden Barfly, and compared to the Cardiff Barfly and the short lived Brighton Barfly, I have to say we were pretty impressed. We travelled to London with Mike, who is our number one fan and best friend of about 15 years! We had hoped for a sound check, to meet the promoter and be shown our dressing room. However when we arrived there was no promoter and by all accounts our name wasn’t even on the poster. We ended up leaving the venue and heading back to Bromley to sit it out and wait to go back later on that night.

We returned later to a packed Barfly, which was a suprise to us because the last two Barfly shows we played in Cardiff and Brighton were a little worse than disappointing (in Cardiff the barman actually had a little sleepy on his hand during our set.) The word ’soul destroying’ doesn’t even cut it people! Anyway, we were hanging around for a while in anticipation, waiting for our set. We were then informed that our set had been sent back later into the night (this was a problem for our bassist Ben as he had work at 9 o’clock the next day.)

After pleading with the other bands to try and get on sooner to no avail we decided just to chill out and enjoy the rest of the night. We caught The Bad Robots set, I think I need to say now that the lead singer has probably the greatest beard I have ever seen! We were on after them. We had absolutely no gear with us at all, because Mikes car is absolutely miniature. We asked The Bad Robots nicely if they would lend us their gear and they very kindly accommodated.  Lucky us.

After our set we decided to have a little boogy downstairs. The majority of the band, WAG’s and close friends ended up in the Barfly ’til about 2:30 in the morning. Our drummers flatmate Dave spent the majority of his night trying to chat up a rather friendly Irish girl. It didn’t matter how many times we warned him off her boyfriends prescense on her arm, this obviously only fuelled his flirtatious flame. Dave proposed a drinking contest, which if you knew Dave you would know this was a terrible idea. One of the other main reasons this was a bad idea is, she’s Irish. He didn’t stand a chance. Poor little fellow.

After this hilarious turn of events we had to get the last bus back to Bromley. We ended up crashing out at 4 O’clock! IMD dislike the infrequency of London transportation.
